New York City artist and sculptor Anthony Heinz May continues his site installation on a beautiful sunny day today at the Sculpture Forest. All of the initial preparation is paying off as he creates and adjusts undulating forms onsite. He is re-constructing the cut space between the lower trunk and upper trunk of a windblown tree that crossed over Whimsy Way, using the exact same wood taken from that mid-section of the tree and even building upon its pieces in the order that the cut pieces grew up or down the original trunk. He is bridging that open space in the now-horizontal tree so that his sculpture will extend from one side of the trail and visually leap to continue on the other side, allowing you to pass through the middle of the sculpture and experience it from multiple vantage points.
