Local Whidbey Island wood artist Pat McVay will be onsite the afternoon of Thursday March 4 from about 1-3pm to begin phase 3 of his existing Icarus Was Here installation. Professional arborist Jesse Brighten and I/park founder Scott will be assisting. If you are in the area, you can stop by to say hi and see what we are up to.

If you have seen Icarus Was Here over time, you will have noticed that the original sculpture grew laterally out into the air a couple months ago. This was done in preparation for phase 3, which will be quite an expansion within the Sculpture Forest. Jesse will be launching hardware into the upper tree canopy, and then we will have more to share with you in the future as Pat and Scott continue working on phase 3…

Anacortes photographer and Sculpture Forest fan Taya Gray captured this closeup of one of Pat’s new feathers that are now hanging in the air, in preparation for more to come.

Thank you, Pat and Taya!
